Frequently Asked Questions
About Therapy
-
A Registered Provisional Psychologist has completed the required graduate education and is completing the supervised practice and other requirements for full registration. I practise under the supervision of a Registered Psychologist, who supports my clinical work and professional development.
-
Therapy can be helpful if you're feeling stuck, struggling with something, or hoping to make changes in your life or relationships. You don't need to be in crisis or have everything figured out before starting. We can work together to explore your concerns and what support might look like.
-
Our first session is an opportunity to get to know each other, talk about what's bringing you to therapy, and discuss what you'd like to work toward. I'll ask some questions to better understand your situation, and you'll have time to ask questions, too. There's no pressure to share everything at once.
-
This depends on your concerns, your goals, and what works for you. Some people benefit from a few sessions, while others prefer longer-term support. We'll check in about your progress and discuss the approach and pace that best meet your needs.
Fees and Payment
-
Individual therapy sessions are $195 for 50 minutes.
-
Many extended health plans include coverage for services provided by psychologists, but coverage varies by plan. Check with your provider about your coverage for a Registered Provisional Psychologist and whether a physician's referral is required.
-
If direct billing isn't available, you'll receive a receipt that you can submit to your insurance provider for reimbursement, subject to your plan's coverage.
-
Reduced-fee sessions may be available in some circumstances. Please reach out to discuss your situation and whether an adjusted rate is possible.
-
At this time we can only accept credit or debit card.
Appointments and location
-
I offer in-person appointments at The Garden Acupuncture and Holistic (Westmount) on Mondays Tuesday Thursdays and Fridays.
I offer in-person appointments at Transcend Psychological (Garneau) on Wednesdays.
-
Research suggests that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy for many concerns. Online sessions offer flexibility and convenience, while in-person sessions may feel more comfortable for some people. We'll consider your needs and circumstances when deciding which format is the best fit.
